Fawzi - Ma6a6

  • Another quality slice of Palestinian hip-hop from the BLTNM collective.

  • Hailing from Ramallah, Palestinian hip-hop collective and label BLTNM (pronounced "blatinum," as in the rugged Arab way of saying "platinum") have exploded onto the Arabic-speaking Middle East and North Africa scene since starting in 2016. Their sound has reached far beyond their homeland with their relatable themes, not sticking to the stereotypical Palestinian narrative of struggle and resistance. BLTNM cofounder, producer and rapper Al Nather lays down a synthy, drill-styled beat for newcomer Fawzi, who takes no prisoners with his relentless flow. On "Ma6A6" (Arabic chat alphabet or Arabizi for "Mattatt," meaning "elastic"), Fawzi's words touch on the reality of living a flexible existence and not dwelling on the shortcomings that life throws at you, even if you're "born in the Intifada."
