  • Swedish singer, songwriter and PC Music signee Namasenda is a pop star. She's a future-facing artist who, like SOPHIE, Charli XCX, Sega Bodega or FKA twigs, interprets the term "pop" in bright new ways, breathing fresh perspectives and possibilities into the genre's conventions. She recently joined Yung Lean (under his jonatan leandoer96 alias), Bladee, Mechatok, Dark0, Toxe and others on a 22-track charity compilation titled RIFT One, which was curated by the Swedish label YEAR0001. All purchase proceeds from the release are donated to "community bail funds, mutual aid funds and racial justice organisers." Naturally, the compilation is painted in YEAR0001's distinctive sonic hue: shades of emosh, new-gen trance, introspective Sad Boys vibes and heady, clubbish euphoria. Namasenda's "I Could Die," produced by Himera, is a prime example. Much like her past output, it's a "melancholic, but make it rave-ready" bop to the nth degree. Her voice, as sweet as can be, earworms its way into your brain via Himera's transcendental beat. A true tears-in-the-club tune.
