Monkz - Double Penetration EP

  • Monkz are the trio formed by Shootie, G.U.L.U. and DJ Supacurtis, these three producers hails from Budapest, Hungary and they gave us some good music in the past, they had releases on Plastic Fantastic and the fabulous Nu Bluez on Alternative Route, now they are ready do deliver a new EP as well as their third release on UK's based Plastic Fantastic and this time with 2 very similar tracks hitting the usual Progressive with an Tech edge we're used to listen from these guys. Zakka starts with some female spooky vocals to start building in this nice twisted progressive tech-esque piece of music, a solid percussion composed by toms and hats and a smooth and bouncy bassline is overlayed by some nice synths and zaps, the drum direction is changed to add a twisted feeling always with vocal bits laying over the tune, for the middle section of Zakka is introduced a nice wattery effect, a eerie synth that sounds like a dark piano stab and new vocal bits, all this to hit the break going deep into the synths and with the vocal bits, then you will get almost the same track you got just before the break until the end closing with the same spooky vocals as the beginning of it. Nekke is very similar to the first track in this EP, it start with the same spooky vocals, the same percussion and the same bassline but you will find some new electro tinged synths bubbling in the background, the most significant difference by these 2 tracks are some new drum percussion, new lush synths, nice piano keys grooving this more deep and dark oriented track. Monkz reached their third release on Plastic Fantastic, in my opinion altought this EP didn't have the impact as their previous had, this is a good release from Monkz and Plastic Fantastic that are always searching for that UK's progressive house music, the diversity on this EP got a bit lost by the similarity of the two tracks. If you are a Monkz's fan it's worth checking this out.
