- While everyone was still in the holiday fog on January 1st, Hyperboloid Records slipped out HYPERBOLOID 2020, a compilation of tracks from some of its key artists. A.Fruit is one of crew's core members, and even masters many of its releases. (She also makes music for PC games and will play at Berlin's CTM festival later this month.) A.Fruit's drum & bass track, "Promises," reminds me of Nero's track of the same name, as though she sampled the vocals or borrowed some other elements. It's one of the most conventional tracks on a compilation full of more out-there sounds. By taking a step back from heady experimentation, A.Fruit has crafted a melodic banger that still leaves you room to breathe.
