- Dancehall meets experimental club on this forward-thinking EP.
- Originally from Melbourne, the UK-based producer Galtier, AKA Jiah Wells, produces disruptive music in line with experimental artists like Air Max '97. His most recent track, "Mind Aggregate," was earlier this month on the Parisian label [re]sources's compilation album, HUMAN [RE]SOURCES Vol. 3. With a more minimalist arrangement than his usual style, Wells whirls intensity with restrained, static-like synths, a single alien vocal sample and a striking dancehall rhythm. With its strange, industrial take on Caribbean rhythms, "Mind Aggregate" seems similar to recent releases from Low Jack, a Parisian producer with notable links to dancehall. If this is what the future of underground club music sounds like, things should get interesting.
