  • The prospect of one of techno's premier oddballs remixing a perfect pop song induces as much excitement as it does trepidation. Thankfully, Nina Kraviz is savvy enough to know that a complete reimagining is the only option, and in its own way, her version of Charli XCX and Christine And The Queens' "Gone" is as stunning as the original. The raunchy, gummy bassline that opens that original is gone, as is Charli and Chris's defiant delivery, replaced with sparse, mystical synths that mingle with their distant, stretched vocals. Kraviz layers their angelic, disembodied voices like floating clouds, then rushes a pulsing kick through the reverie. A symphony of ravey drums joins the party later, but it never feels overcrowded, nor does it rupture the track's gossamer sheen. Charli XCX wrote the track about feeling insecure in social situations. "Happy Nina Kraviz Mix," an apt title, speaks more to weightless moments of dance floor bliss.
