  • The Brazilian-born producer Terr, real name Daniela Caldellas, recently moved from Barcelona to Berlin. Her music doesn't feel fixed to any terrestrial place, though. This sci-fi and Kubrick fan is far more outward-looking. On "Tale Of Devotion," Caldellas's first track for Phantasy Sound, she adds retro flourishes to the space disco sound of her 2017 tracks on Hotflush. A chugging bassline is dusted with cowbells and laser effects while Caldellas's airy vocal positions her as avatar. It sounds like vintage Giorgio Moroder with a sprinkling of Valerie Dore, evoking white flares and chest hair (the dub version is the toned-down alternative). Prins Thomas's slowed down "Diskomiks" is another option for mellow dance floors, but Caldellas's singing is the fairy dust missing from the instrumental. However ethereal, her voice also has a humanising quality (she sings about love, after all). It broadens her scope from the universe to the universal on her boldest statement yet.
