  • Chaos In The CBD established themselves with a chilled-out style of house music that suited the London labels, including Rhythm Section International and Church, that released their early records. In the last few years, however, with the launch of their In Dust We Trust label and more club gigs, the New Zealand brothers have showcased a ravier sound. The duo aren't as low-key as their early releases might have suggested—they like to goof off and party hard. Records like last year's Multiverse EP had the smooth, melodic underpinnings of their early work, but bumpy baselines and spooky synths introduced a late-night essence. Their latest record, a homage to ecstasy pills, continues this trend with a sound they describe as a "slow and smooth build up with an intense but mellow peak that just goes on and on." "Orange Blank" nods to classic trance with breaks, sweet synths and an addictive bassline. "Green Dove" is an upbeat trip that's also mellow and weird, including more retro rave influences complemented by lush atmospheres. An intro of synth washes picks up another bumpy melodic bassline. The brothers then chop up the vocals, creating an immersive soundscape that invites you to shut your eyes.
