  • The Frankfurt-based DJ and producer LUZ1E has enjoyed a rapid rise in the past year. It began with an edit of ABRA's "Pull Up" that she uploaded to SoundCloud. This was a fitting prelude to her first vinyl release, UGONGETIT002, a collection of lush house edits on Lobster Theremin's edit series, UGONGETIT. It's clear that LUZ1E loves a range of styles, having made house, ghettotech, jungletek and electro mixtapes. 4/5/20/18/15/9/20 shows yet another side. The EP contains four cuts of simmering, acid-tinged electro. "4/5/20/18/15/9/20," "SOLITVDE" and "Malfunction" channel a deep, subterranean sound. They have a gentle sway suited to the early moments of a night when a DJ has captured dancers' attention and they're disconnected from those around them, lost in the music. "Exploration Of The Mind" occupies a similarly slow-burning headspace, blending high-energy, footwork-style percussion and bass with a gargling acid line.
