  • B.Traits's debut single, "Fever," was a UK Top 40 hit that combined massive piano house keys and drum & bass with the vocals of Elisabeth Troy. It launched a production career that B.Traits decided not to follow, instead spending the next four years focusing on DJing across Europe. She emerged from that production hiatus in 2016 with a more minimal sound and a clearer vision in mind. Talking about her label, IN.TOTO, in 2016, B.Traits said: "It's an outlet for me to express myself 100% creatively as an artist, as a DJ, as a curator, as a producer, and I don't have to write music that sounds any certain way or is any certain style." As IN.TOTO has developed, B.Traits has had the freedom to reach into darker and heavier corners, trading piano for monstrous techno basslines. People's Nation combines the funk and groove of her earlier house-oriented productions with the propulsive energy of techno. The title track is functional with a slamming bassline that keeps the momentum high. But the main vocal and euphoric melody hints at Ibiza, where B.Traits has spent a considerable amount of time. "Inside My Love" has a deeper, subtler atmosphere. It melds house and disco together in a way that recalls the late-night moods of Soundstream's deeper productions. People's Nation shows B.Traits's mounting confidence as a producer, and suggests that starting a label can be great for an artist's growth.
