  • The Melbourne-based label and party outfit Clipp.art presents a whimsical single from Monolithic, a fresh face in New York's lo-fi house scene. An audio engineer for TV and film by day, Jun Torii, the artist behind the project, was born in Japan, raised in Germany, and currently resides in New York's Upper East Side. The influences from his colorful upbringing are heard in his DJ sets, as well as his productions. Time, Torii's first official release, follows an run of self-distributed music that's received praise from YouTube's very active lo-fi house community. A luscious wedge of house, "Time" has a warm and hazy vibe, the one often found in the small rooms filled with fog in clubs across New York. The composition is a mix of swirling pads, jets of bass and basic yet punchy drums, with a simple and effective female vocal on top. It's an effective DJ tool for selectors who spin dreamy and lo-fi house.
