  • So much electronic music is about looking forward, but it doesn't hurt to look back as well. B From E, an upcoming producer based in Copenhagen, is building a career doing just that, releasing throwback house bombs that may as well have been produced in the '90s. Lean and smart, they're the kind of garage-tinged groovers loved by almost every house DJ on the planet, based on the time-tested combination of cheery melodies and sprightly groove. The Nintendo EP, B From E's second vinyl release of the year, is his best yet. These three tracks are about as fun as house music gets. Each has a few melodic components, all aimed at the heavens, with keys, boogie-style synths and, in the case of "2605 Brothers," even a sax. "M1 House," rightly given a full side of vinyl, is the highlight, mainly thanks to a bassline that sounds good enough to have been ripped straight from a New Jersey classic. Nintendo belongs in the hands of Zip, Jeremy Underground and any other DJ with a taste for lean house bangers.
