- Leather & Lace, the second collaborative EP between the UK techno bruisers Perc and Truss, saw the pair turn up the intensity. With a tangle of zippy synths and vocal rally cries, the title track stood out, which is probably why Perc Trax has dropped this three-track remix package two years later. It features reworks from the Dutch duo Ghost In The Machine, Bristol's Pinch and the shape-shifting grime pair Mumdance & Logos.
Mumdance & Logos turn in the most radical version by upping the tempo, throwing in delirious squiggles of acid and fattening the midsection with piping choir samples and trance chords. You never quite know what to expect from these two, and their reimagining of "Leather & Lace" packs an equal amount of humor and bravado. The other remixes aren't quite as revelatory. Ghost In The Machine nearly double the original's length by zeroing in on a jackhammering backbeat and stretching out the melodic build-up, while Pinch gives the track a bass-faced makeover with a dubstep-style rhythm and moments of empty space.
