Dousk - Dousk EP (Disc Two)

  • Disc two of the Dousk EP kicks into gear with two more solid productions that are sure to get this artist from Greece on the map. First up is Pa Dida, and many of you may remember this production from the recent Sasha & Digweed Essential mix recorded from the Renaissance festival in England. Pa Dida is the track that starts the mix, and ever since it was played it has had many people desperate for its release, and for good reason. Soldi beats begin and build the track in the early parts, accompanied by a subtle stabbing baseline. Melodies build and begin to break out in small increments, alongside a subtle vocal. The baseline brilliantly changes shape midway in, shortly before the breakdown, which sees the melodies take shape, and also sees a solid driving baseline give the track a fantastic aura. Emotive strings enter shortly before the beats roll back in to take the track out smoothly. The Novel for me is probably the weakest production of the four tracks featured in this EP, but it is far from disappointing, rather it just indicates the strength of this EP. Delicate tribal beats build for the most part, and the strength of this production invariably lies in the beautiful moments of stabbing pads that feature throughout, especially as they intensify after the short breakdown. On second thoughts, perhaps it isn’t the weakest as it is subtly devastating in a way. Another great disc in addition to the first disc, and it appears Bedrock have unearthed another production gem.
