- The next release on Hope Recordings is an all Canadian affair as Benz & MD put their talents to the test with this latest release in Wonder. The brilliant Grayarea trio also put in their hard work with a solid remix on the flip.
The Original Mix is first up and it is made right in time for the Summer heat. Despite the length in this production (11+ minutes), the track takes no time at all in getting straight into the deep end, with solid grooves as well as atmospheric sounds and effects coming straight into the production. What the production does quite well however, is that it builds and takes different shape throughout, never remaining stale. Melodic hooks change and take different form throughout, and the main driving baseline really gives the track a solid framework for the melodies to wreak havoc!
The Grayarea Remix on the flip is a grittier then the a-side for sure. Broken beats begin the remix process, shortly before the main melodic hooks get their teeth stuck into the track, accompanied by a very delicate guitar riff that works brilliantly. After a short breakdown, the dirty baseline rips through the track making it a dancefloor destroyer instantly!
A very nice release here from the Hope crew, and fortunately a release that delivers the goods on both sides of the record. Would be hard to overlook this gem next time you are at the record store.
