- B-O-D-I-E-S is one of the three labels that make up Sound+Matter, a new Malmö-based platform curated by Rivet. Suspended In Gaffa (a Kate Bush reference that has no relation to their music) debuted last year with Your Body Is My Body, a dark synth pop and electro-tinged EBM record that channelled the group's previous histories in post-punk and abstract electronics.
"Two Four Two" was the highlight on that record, with a catchy synth line and breathy vocals by Dan Mortazavi of the Danish duo The Product. Rivet keeps that vibe on his remix, beefing up the drums to maximise its floor potential. There's a warped breakdown that tapers out to a scuzzy acid ride to the end of the track—a twist that makes it even better than the original. Diagonal duo Bronze Teeth reduce the title track to a sinister and brutal industrial dirge that's full of bottled rage—just clench your fists and nod. Bronze Teeth's remix of "Fingered" is the opposite, flipping Suspended In Gaffa's most serene offering into a housey jam bursting with lush lo-fi melodies. Basic House's "Erosion" version of "Fingered" is wonderful, too, and even more textured.
