Gauss - Numerical Coefficients

  • Share
  • Numerical Coefficients is the latest from Gauss, the duo of Natan H from LA and Owen Jay from Malta. Their collaborative project is more defined than their solo work, subtly nudging their deep house styles into techno, acid and electro frameworks. Their tracks are mostly self-released through an eponymous label, and so far, they'd all be sleek additions to any DJ bag. The fourth installment on Gauss Ltd features three more strong tunes. Each one is moody and full of spacey textures, with a focus on deep, stepping grooves. "Numerical Coefficients" is an introspective electro track that moves in slow, wide sweeps, washed with the kind of brain-tingling synth work that makes Joey Anderson's music so trippy. "Curvature" heats things up more, with jazzy snares and drums that get broken into a rough roll, but it still feels feathery. "Differential," a cut of dubby acid-techno, shoots off one cold, woozy sound after the next, creating an ever-expanding universe around its submerged pulse. No matter its approach, this record strikes a chord.
