Flash Brothers – Protect The Sense

  • The first we heard of Protect the Sense by the Flash Brothers was when the track featured on John Digweed’s MMII compilation which was of course released in 2002. Now almost a good two years on, we finally see the full release of the track, and it comes hand in hand with a MAS Collective Remix on the flip. The Original Mix on the a-side I fortunately can say still sounds fresh despite the years the track already has. Expect the typical tribal sounding drums from the Israeli boys coupled with a nice droning baseline that hums in the background. The track builds with some nice effects, and the drums also build as the track progresses until it hits the main breakdown. Definitely a highlight, the breakdown features some smooth atmospheric moments and stunning melodic tones. The track all in all is very good, and is definitely one of the Flash Brothers finer accomplishments. On the flip is a remix by the MAS Collective crew. From the word go we are introduced to some nice crisp drum patterns and some smooth subtle baselines. MAS put some good effects together and they build the track quite nicely as it builds to the main breakdown. The breakdown is essentially similar to the original mix, but the MAS crew work the effects and add a few elements of their own to make it quite special. It’s quite a good remix from MAS, and is a welcome addition to the solid original. It’s good to see this track is finally out, and even better it is good to notice that it really hasn’t aged in 2 years. Still fresh and cutting edge, what is even more welcome is that the release is armed with a pretty solid MAS Collective mix, and that should help the release along very nicely.
