- It's safe to assume that DeWalta and Cristi Cons have spent a lot of time at afterparties. The two minimalists are key figures in their respective scenes—Dewalta in Berlin, Cons in Bucharest—and have amassed countless hours in late-night situations, both on the dance floor and behind the decks. If their first collaboration is anything to go by, those experiences inform their work as producers. Simply titled ∞, the duo's three-track 12-inch reaches for a powerful, sub-aquatic aesthetic that many try for but few pull off so smoothly.
Club Der Visionaere regulars may recognise the murky drive of "Within Space." It's punchy, fat and delightfully weird, though it would have been better off without the derivative melody in its second half. Two versions of the similarly heady "Space Between" sit on the flip, so anyone who finds the spacey spoken word in the main version a tad cheesy will be happy to also have the instrumental dub. ∞ is a quality EP, but there are few venues suited to its understated sound.
