- Markus Suckut is a groove technician. In his records for labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts, Figure and his own SCKT, he's proven himself to be an extraordinary craftsman of techno rhythms. Unembellished but never dry, his records are exactly the kind of thing big-club DJs need in their bags. This makes him a good look for Rekids, itself a steady source of well-judged club tools.
Most of Suckut's EPs are unabashedly utilitarian, something that fits his ethos and his skill set. Heat On Feet is a bit more varied, colorful and housey. "Untitled #1" is a breaky tension-builder that would work at virtually any time—a get-out-of-jail-free card for DJs of many persuasions. At 135 BPM, "Untitled #2" is for techno DJs only, though its hypnotic rhythm and dreamy pads make it a rather tender club weapon. On "Untitled #3," we get floaty breaks and euphoric chords punctuated by anvil-heavy kicks. Fun as they are, these tracks throw light on Suckut's relative lack of artistic flair—even his off-piste excursions are pretty straightforward. But maybe that's not such a bad thing. His calling is fierce, effective grooves, which Heat On Feet delivers with aplomb.
