- The first track on Henrik Bergqvist and Noah Gibson's collaborative debut has one of those melodies that sends people reaching for Shazam within seconds of hearing it. It happened to me when "Planet Sunday" appeared in the middle of John Talabot's set at DGTL Festival in Barcelona this year. Dropping just as a miserable day of torrential rain turned into a balmy summer evening, the tune's gorgeous rave-era piano riff felt like the beginning of everyone's night, and was greeted with accordant joy.
The rest of EP1 bears little resemblance to the opener, with the Stockholm duo instead opting for creaky, heavy-breathing techno ("This World To The Next") and odd chiptune sounds. The heavily distorted "Outrun" is a highlight, though it doesn't rival the opener. If "Planet Sunday" had come out at the start of the summer (as was originally planned), it might've built up some serious festival-driven momentum by now. With any luck it'll do brisk business now that it's here.
