Peter Katafalk - Down & Out

  • Mantra Vibes display their amazing diversity by releasing this next track by Peter Katafalk. Apparently discovered in a Rock Club, Peter displays his gritty upbringing with this release in Down & Out. 2 Original mixes are included as well as a welcome remix by Maskio. Firstly on the a-side is the Radiophonik Mix, which is essentially the Original Radio Mix. Straight to the point, this track works its way in from the word go. Sinister electro influenced music this is, with a quirky male vocal that is sure to work on many dancefloors. The Longaphonik Mix for me loses some of the beauty that the Radio version had. It for me would have worked much better if this was merely an extended version of that mix, but rather, this mix gets a little darker and loses plenty of the vocal line as well as the melodic tones of the first mix. The Maskio Thriller Remix on the b-side gets back the quirkiness of the Radio mix and uses a sinister and trippy synths over a nice deeply embedded baseline. Swirling effects are nicely placed in the background and it is no wonder why this remix has been receiving good airplay from the likes of Tiga, Steve Lawler and Atomic Hooligan. This is definitely not one of your normal release from Mantra, and respect must be shown to them for trying so many things out of the ordinary. All in all, it’s quite a good release, and there are 3 varying mixes of the track which is sure to appeal to many. For fans of Electro based electronica, this might be worth a look.
