- Hype_LTD, the unruly Hypercolour sublabel, enlists Tom Demac to remix two songs from Gazelle Twin, an artist responsible for some of the most alien and disturbed electronic music of 2014. On "Belly Of The Beast," one of two tracks that feature here from her album Unflesh, Gazelle Twin's predatory intonation is buffeted by thick, rubbery drums, which railroad the haunted atmospheres of the original into a tech-y bounce. The odd juxtaposition of the song's grizzled vocals and Demac's enthusiastic beat is passable, but these elements hardly flatter each other.
"Guts" harnesses the feel of Gazelle Twin's music with more finesse. Demac's slinky electro riff, laid over nimble drums and bass that stretches over most of the track, is a more natural fit, drawing out the corporeal lyrics and bending them to a dance floor shape that suits the intense otherness of the original.
