- Domenico Crisci is an Italian producer who has previously appeared on L.I.E.S. and Russian Torrent Versions. As far as those roughshod labels go, Crisci's techno is on the slightly smoother side, but on Ceremony he gets brasher. Still, it's the details that make his Eerie debut such a compelling record.
"Ceremony" is a savage introduction, but there's a layer of delicate melody beneath all that distorted crunch. "Strong Experience" is just as blunt, powering forward with a thrashing drum loop that knocks up aural dust. Things get clearer on "Lash," which is just the sort of hypnotic trip that Eerie does best. Here, Crisci funnels his aggressive tendencies into the ebb and flow of the groove, letting a wave of blaring synth crest and recede carefully.
Eerie boss Marco Shuttle loosens the joints of "Lash," feigning little sprints and then letting the rhythms peter out. About five minutes in, those bursts of tension explode into what feels like a rave flashback. It's all blaring sirens and drums pounding against your head, before it dissolves back into a trickling lava flow. Shuttle's remix cements him as a master of the drawn-out build and complements Crisci's style for one very well-rounded techno EP.
