  • Christopher Ruskis and Wen-Kai Ying, otherwise known as Chris and Kai, are a fresh new production duo from New York and are currently holding court with their unique music making talents and brilliant, epic house sets. There is huge support internationally for these two coming from such luminaries as Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Chris Fortier, Steve Porter, Sander Kleinenberg and Anthony Pappa. 'Catch Me' features the vocals from 80's club hit 'Catch Me Im Falling' by Pretty Poison. Catch Me (Frozen in Time Club mix) a solid, driving, peak time house track with an assortment of sounds cutting in and out while catchy melodic elements and quirky percussion really make the track fly. The breakdown features unique melodic sounds and arrangements and is probably the catchiest part of the track. The vocal sample features throughout with the short ‘Catch Me’ bursts of enthusiasm elevating the mix even higher and is great on the ears. Suffocation (Locked in the Basement mix) goes on a totally different tangent as it follows a deeper, darker line and is very menacing. A slow build creates a great platform for the oncoming onslaught of relentless drums and low haunting sounds and vocals. A metallic melody is injected and is quite aggressive and sharp with no place to hide. The pace and deepness of the track remain set throughout and there is no resting for the innocent. Catch Me (Frozen in Time Vocal mix) does carry a lot of the elements as the Club mix but features the vocal with full lyrics and effects. The mix inserts more use of electro tinged elements and atmospheric, brain teasers while keeping a lower tone than the Club mix. The bassline and the great breakdown in the middle really make this track but this time the classic vocal sample takes to the stage. This is definitely a fresh look by Chris and Kai as they really make a great set of productions here. Impressive to say the least.
