- Barcelona DJ/producer Victor Palomo, AKA Shelby Grey, is a familiar face in the city. A resident at Nitsa for the past two years and at Razzmatazz for the past ten, he's released several EPs on Holographic People before this, but Leave It All Behind is the most impressive to date. The title track is instrumental pop/techno that emotionally goes straight for the jugular, with soft kicks setting the scene for a dewy-eyed synth line, warming bass and alternately sighing and heaving vocal snippets. In its relative simplicity, emotional reach and floor appeal, it's like something Ghost Culture might come up with.
Elsewhere, "My Love" pairs moody house tropes with a repeating vocal snippet that favourably evokes John Talabot, Palomo's friend. "Glow In The Jungle" is a supremely bleak but atmospheric closer, its central bass chug seeming to carry the weight of the world as the distorted sound of birds mingles with rattling drums overhead.
