Steve Porter – Definite Form

  • Steve Porter is a name that is synonymous with quality productions these days, and it is no surprise that his latest single on Little Mountain Recordings, by the name of Definite Form, is no such exception. It’s been played by some of the top DJ's, namely Sasha, for the last year or so, so its release is finally upon us, an dit comes with the fantastic Dub mix and a all Dutch reworking. The Jumpin Dub begins with a very chunky kick drum before a nice funky baseline enters the track. The track builds for a few moments until it hits the familiar melodic riffs that have made this track stand out. The arrangement takes a few breaks, showcasing the melodies on its own for a few moments, before the track fades out. The Remy & Roland Klinkenberg Remake adds a breakbeat infused perspective on the original, using subtle elements of the baseline. Snippets of the main melody feature midway into the track, amongst the elements of atmospheric effects that the duo incorporate into their remix. A pretty solid release for LMR, but one can’t help but feel that they may have missed the boat with this release, especially considering there was such hype about this production a few months ago. One thing about good music though is that time does not take away from its beauty.
