ESP Woody McBride - Flights Departing

  • Chicago-based Kompute Musik continues to gain both national and international recognition with each forthcoming record they put out onto the market. If any track is set to put them in the spotlight in the world of forward thinking techno, it could very well be ESP Woody McBride’s peak time destroyer, “Flight’s Departing.” Featuring what is arguably one of the funkiest, get that booty shaking bass lines to hit the record stands in 2003, the original track is reason alone to pick up this gem. “Flight’s Departing” has the feel of an old school jacking track, wound into a package with the tech house sounds of today. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting at home, listening to the radio in your car, or out at a club, once that bass line drops it’s time to get down on the dance floor. Those seeking a more laid back version of the track need look no further than Soultek’s remix. Slowing down the pace a bit, Soultek applies his signature groovy and atmospheric layers to the original for a reworking that fits perfectly in either the early parts of a DJ set or late into the after hours. Matt Nee and Shreve work the flip side with an electro-flavored remix alongside a techno rework which rounds out a spectacular release from Kompute. Chicago may be best known as the place where house was created, but Kompute is walking proof that techno has its foundation in the Windy city as well. Do yourself a favor and pick up ESP Woody McBride’s “Flight’s Departing” release – but be forewarned – it won’t be leaving your record box anytime soon!
