  • The two bootlegs on BootShonk were staples of French trio Apollonia's sets in Ibiza all summer, and the strong reaction to them persuaded Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom to release them as a limited white-label. "White Ghost" bursts from the blocks on a pumping percussion groove, and the blend is completed by a stirring female spoken-word sample and hands-in-the-air bass drops. It's a simple but hugely effective bit of dance floor alchemy, and it's very easy to imagine it tearing the roof off DC-10. "Santa Roza" runs along roughly similar lines but packs less of a punch, perhaps because of the familiarity of the formula. This time a French-accented male spoken vocal is laid across a steady '90s-style breakbeat and a lumbering bassline. It was no doubt an effective weapon in the frantic haze of an Ibizan summer, but it has more limited appeal as winter takes hold.
