- Francis Harris's floor-oriented works as Adultnapper contain their share of atmospheric melancholy, but this EP, a taster for Minutes Of Sleep, his forthcoming second album under his given name, brings that quality yet further to the fore. A gentle, smoky sadness runs through the heart of these songs, from the funereal trumpet work of No Regular Play's Greg Paulus on the title track to the barely-there keys of "Radiofreeze." "You Can Always Leave" features guest vocals from Danish singer Gry Bagøien, her yearning tones slipping gradually into view over a framework of muffled but insistent kicks and teasing hats.
The unobtrusively thrumming "Radiofreeze" teams slow-mo percussion with Brendan Golle's soft keys and wafting reels of cello. It's a pretty, hypnotic counterpart, but DJ Sprinkles' remix of the title track is what marks this release as essential. His rework is built on characteristically submerged percussion and bass, over which fragments of the original's trumpet and vocal lines and exotic percussion dance in and out of view. It's a gorgeous, sprawling 12 minutes of music from a producer currently incapable of putting a foot wrong.
