A Sagittariun - Across The Celestial Sphere

  • There are not too many things we know about A Sagittariun, save the Mickey Mouse masks and a deft approach to knitting together the old and new of dance music's myriad strands. He's apparently a long-time label owner and a seasoned producer, and Across The Celestial Sphere is further compelling evidence of the latter. On "Clusters" he opens up with and old school hip-hop breakbeat before introducing groaning bass stabs, sonar bleeps and an ecstatic synth melody. Despite its classic techno and hardcore tropes, it still sounds fresh and compelling. "Fire Sign" is skittering, jazzy techno—think '90s legends like Ken Ishii, Dave Angel or UR—all pitter-patter snares, searing top synths and post-acid squelch, before "The DNA Of Life" draws a dark veil across proceedings with juddering kicks, horror movie keys and saturnine church organs.
