- Up next on Intrinsic Records is Aftercast with Solar Guerrilla. Aftercast consists of Matt Slater (aka Tocharian) and Anthony Coombs (aka Nexus), both who have released quality productions in the past such as on labels such as Intrinsic, Plink Plonk and Hydrogen Records. This duo join for the first time to great results, with Aftercast already receiving plays from a certain Danny Howells in particular.
On the a-side is the Original Mix. The track begins with a simple 4/4 beat while the moods and sounds of the track build slowly. A smooth baseline soon enters the track as some subtle stabbing synths come in and out of the production. A melody is starting to form in the middle part of the track until it breaks down, a break in action that sees the melody take full shape, and the epic elements of the track take shape. This mix is definitely a nice summer progressive hit.
On the b-side is the Dub Mix. The dub begins with drums that are noticeably a little tougher then the Original. It features some smooth humming pads that give the production a nice aura, and some smooth effects that keep the track flowing. The track also breaks down midway introducing a subtle little melody that features for a few moments deep into the production. Don’t be fooled by this track being labelled a Dub however, as it does have some strong elements like the original.
A pretty solid release for a label that seems to be in a bit of form. Following good releases such as ‘Arcadia/Awakening’ and the vocal hit ‘Focus On You’, Aftercast continue the tradition of quality that is being showcased at Intrinsic.
