Transcendental Party - Cass and more

  • Double Six in Bali and Stadium in Jakarta are two of the best clubs considered by many as THE destinations to have a total clubbing experience in their respective cities. What happens if the two join forces? Then came Transcendental Party brought by Concrete Sounds team in Bali with Double Six and Stadium Jakarta hosting two nights of mayhem on August 15-16 2003 during the Indonesian Independence Day with Cass as the captain. Beautifully hosted at Double Six club in Bali, the special events were set on two areas indoor and outdoor with stage and great light and sound systems right next to the beach. Other DJs are DJ Agoose, Ai, Deny and the resident DJs from Double Six (Dede, Gusti, Hendra, and Wilson) and Stadium (Aldi, Bobby, Tosse and Zaldi). First night started with Zaldi did a superb opening for Cass on the outdoor area. Around 2:30 Cass took over the decks and built the journey with his deep, techy stuff and slowly but surely throwing irresistible grooves to the punters which were a little bit shy and suddenly after an hour the stage was packed with people dancing the night away. Cass was definitely in the zone by throwing Lee Burridge's track, some breaks from Freak Nasty's "Psychodelic", Kate Bush vs Infusion's "Running up that Hill", Cass's own "Kenjin". The night hit the peak as the closing tune was Cass & Slide's "Perception" which sent people into the stratosphere. Nobody expected this tune to be played and you could see the hands in the air. After taking over from the house residents, DJ Tosse whipped his trademark tribal house, waving to the crowd while watching so many people jumping and moving in the indoor area. Meanwhile DJ Deny tore the outdoor area with some heavy hitters such as Medway's "Trauma", Medway vs Pete Gawtry's latest tune, Flash Brother's "Restless", Chris Fortier's "Whateveritis" and closing in the morning hour with Avril Lavange's "I'm With You" (Leamar and Moor Remix). A caliber who played alongside world class DJs like Anthony Pappa, Dave Seaman, Sasha and others he truly owned the closing night. Day two got more interesting as DJ Deny opened for Cass and he played his unusual high energy set to get the punters ready for Cass. The crowd on the second night was really up for it that by 2.30 the place was already packed. Cass started his buildup and then wasting no time to really put the people in the journey. Overall a more banging set with some trademark crazy twisted breaks. In the indoor area, DJ Aldi who just moved to Bali wasting no time taking over from Double Six residents and played a more tribal and hard driving house. Apparently the island life did not tame this man down. Soon after DJ Bobby took the decks and splashed his magical blend of Stadium's trademark sound into the island of gods. It's very rare that one can feel the vibe just like that, transporting the soul of a club with just the right set. Dj Ai then put the night away with his techno influenced tunes that were spot on with many foreigners who wanted it hard. A guy snuck into the DJ booth and thanked him for his high energy set. Looked a bit puzzled, he grinned with satisfaction. Meanwhile, closing the sets at the outdoor area was DJ Agoose with his uplifting tracks heavily influenced by Sasha and Digweed's progressive sounds he really closed the gig with heavy hitters ranging from Dave Gahan's "Dirty Sticky Floor", classics like "Children" to even "Scorchio". Very appropriate as the morning sun showed up, his final record was Planet Funk's "Chase the Sun". This guy knows how to deliver what people want. Top nights, top DJs, and definitely great moments to remember; with the recent security unrest it was truly exceptional to have the best talents teaming up to deliver such great parties. Special thanks for Double Six and Stadium Jakarta crew for the memorable nights, Cass and the DJs for the great music and Resident Advisor to participate in the Transcendental party. See you next year!
