Jee Day - Sum Of Love

  • "Sum Of Love" from NYC dance scene fixture Dennis "DJ" McNany—label boss at Run Roc Records and a touring member of The Juan MacLean—has "summer smash" written all over it. With a chewy rhythmic spine forged on an a Roland MC-202, and sweet strings flowing in the back, the track is illuminated by the lovelorn and ineffably sunny vocals of his friend Jee Young Sim. Anchoring the lyrics is the much-revisited refrain of "Where you go I go / Where I go you go." The simple devotional romance could melt the stoniest of hearts. Lauer's housey remix hits all the right notes, too, with a long, sparse build-up of beats and vocal snippets finally giving way to the most generous of rolling basslines halfway through.
