Boska/Pedrodollar - British Funk Museum Article No. 808/Theme Song

  • Despite the stuffy title, Boska's "British Funk Museum Article No. 808" sounds a lot like the future. It certainly heralds a bright one for this Norwegian. Its emotive analogue synth melodies, rocking b-boy rhythms, raw beats and juddering bass suggest dance floor versatility. Julio Bashmore—who played it on his Radio 1 show—is a fan, and with its future funk stylings and stirring main theme, he no doubt sees the Trømso producer as a man after his own heart. Pedrodollar's "Theme Song" is a strange, short (just two minutes long) but weirdly engaging outing. The Swede chops up crackly old pianos to create twisted polka, accompanied by an otherworldy voice. Studio Barnhus are releasing the EP on 10-inch green vinyl, which probably tells you all you need to know.
