- Following the release of his 5th studio album, the long-serving Ian Pooley reunites with Spencer Parker for a three-track EP. Comprising two originals and a Radio Slave remix, the release marks the duo's second outing on Josh Wink's Ovum.
A-side "In My Head" finds the pair applying their signature grooves to a stirring wash of minimalism, underpinned with a weighty sub-line. "Lerchen und Eulen" (larks and owls), presumably referencing the Berlin bar, is equipped with subtle 808 claps, a strolling piano progression and a subtle assembly of arpeggios. While there's depth to the original, Radio Slave takes his psychedelic rework further down the rabbit hole by reversing the chords and switching the keys for rippling pulses. Thirty Six is a strong EP from three old hands, displaying their prowess in the delicate art of understated refinement.
