Trus'me – Remixes 3

  • Trus'me has spent much of this year recasting his back catalog of weather-worn house music as biting, floor-baiting techno. And almost without question, the folks he's brought on board so far—Norman Nodge, Terrence Dixon, DVS1 and Marcel Dettmann—have made fine work of their remodeling gigs. Ben Klock, Vakula and Ryan Elliott, thankfully, aren't bucking the trend. This third EP of Trus'me remixes is more proof that the Mancunian's music is likely to keep us on our feet (in one form or another) for quite some time. The project continues to bring out the best in its participants. Klock applies his devastatingly light touch to "WAR Dub," with whispers of the original adding urgency to the painstakingly crafted drum programming. Vakula, an artist best known for his peculiar deep house tracks, surprises with his remix of "Need A Job": he not only goes shockingly hard, but teases acid out of source material that couldn't have been further from it. The most addictive mix on here, though, comes from Elliott. His reimagining of "Nards" keeps things simple but awesomely direct, leaving dancers with little choice but to heed the track's repeated requests to "get up."
