Initially emerging out of the legendary, much-missed The Secret Garden Party in 2012, Little Gay Brother has naturally evolved to become one of the best-loved, most imaginative and inclusive LGBTQ+ raves in the UK. Combining live performance, imaginative decor and a lovingly punk attitude, Little Gay Brother speaks to an optimistic queer future in the spirit of classic house, disco and techno.
Built around a knowledgeable, approachable team of dancers and resident DJs; Little Gay Brother has long been making themselves useful all over the UK’s club and festival circuit, from their own notorious soirees to takeovers of cultural institutions such as The Southbank, as well as providing unforgettable back-up dance support for DJs including Peggy Gou, The Black Madonna, Seth Troxler and Eats Everything.
Beginning at East London’s legendary queer spot, Dalston Superstore, Little Gay Brother was so quickly embraced by a scene, carving out a new generation of open-minded and queer-friendly parties, and what began as a two-person festival experiment soon found a home at London's legendary club, Heaven.
Regularly spotted owning dance areas and stages at like-minded dance festivals including Boomtown Fair, Fly Open Air, Lovebox and AMP Lost & Found, the collective has since taken over a diverse range of club spaces including FOLD, Hangar, Omeara, as well as being one of the first promotors to bring back queer clubbing to fabric London in over 11 years. Now, consisting of a diverse team of dancers, drag artists, DJs, stage designers, lighting & technical specialist and general show-offs, Little Gay Brother maintains their vision of freedom, unity and respect while prioritising outrageous fun and tongue-in-cheek drama in the process.
Soundtracked from both the rich queer history and current state of affairs within underground dance music, each edition and facet of Little Gay Brother is a chin-stroke free affair, solely dedicated to freedom and self-expression. It’s a Queer Rave For Everyone. And, as their compere for the evening will doubtlessly remind you, you don’t need to be ‘little’ to rave at Little Gay Brother, any more than you need to be tall, fat or thin. You don’t even need to be gay! You could be Queer, Bi, Pan, Lesbian, Trans, Non-binary or simply somewhere in between. Simply put, Little Gay Brother nights are open to anyone, as long as you're open to everyone.
After years spent overflowing with creative juices deep inside sweat-soaked basements and neon-tinged nightspots, Little Gay Brother continued to transcend institutional borders in 2019, when the collective premiered a new, 45-minute dance show which found a rapturous response not only on the festival circuit but also at cultural institutes such as Royal Academy of Arts. Choreographed by Chester Hayes and produced by Little Gay Brother founder Clayton Wright, the performance is an irresistible, high-energy primer into the equalising universe of Little Gay Brother. Each show then explodes into an accessible rave-for-all, with our squad of resident DJs expertly maintaining the joyous energy.
Already an unapologetic fixture on the queer landscape of the capital and beyond, Little Gay Brother continues to impress, inspire and unite LGBTQ+ clubbers, as well as their allies. Little Gay Brother is a truly queer act, promotor, space and collective for truly authentic humans. Come and join their family.
