  • Hailing from Knowle West outside of Bristol, Krust is one of drum & bass' most musically important producers. His work is paradoxical, successfully combining a minimalistic, economical approach with an expansive vision. The Edge Of Everything, his first new album since 2006, is a timely one, appearing after an extended hiatus and capturing the artist at his most ambitious. It's a career milestone for the man born Kirk Thompson, whose life in music began in the late '80s as part of Fresh 4 before playing a foundational role in the development of drum & bass as the '90s progressed. By the end of the decade, he was swept up in the sound's international success as part of the group Reprazent, a dream team of Bristol drum & bass producers—he also helped define the Bristol sound with the label Full Cycle Recordings. In conversation with Martha Pazienti-Caidan, Krust spoke about the impact of cinema on his life and The Edge Of Everything (particularly Wild Style), his commitment to wellness, and Disruptive Patterns, his programme of creative masterclasses.
