  • Few foreign artists have been adopted by the UK quite like Brianna Price. Originally from British Columbia, Canada, the young Price had a successful life as a DJ in her home country before taking the plunge and moving to London. As part of Shy FX's Digital Soundboy crew, she became one of the most visible women in English dance music, especially after the release of her crossover smash "Fever" in 2012. Along with major labels, the success attracted the attention of BBC Radio 1, who approached her about presenting her own monthly show. Within a few years she had her own weekly slot, was covering for Annie Mac and eventually landed the coveted Friday night shift. In 2018, she's the only DJ with a three-hour specialist show on Radio 1. This Exchange was recorded at a fundraiser event for UN Women UK, organised by the not-for-profit label Needs as part of HeForShe London Arts Week. In conversation with Martha Pazienti Caidan (producer of RA's The Hour podcast), Price reflects on her work in drug education, presenting underground sounds to mainstream audiences and the fight for gender equality in the music industry.
