  • The Hour is RA's monthly blend of documentaries, interviews and discussion. To begin the show, Carlos Hawthorn looks at the role label managers and A&Rs play in shaping the music they release. Some people are very hands-on with the feedback they give to artists; others are much more relaxed. Either way, this is a key step in the process of releasing a record that we wanted to know more about [0.58]. Next, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 play us six key tracks from their highly influential label Night Slugs, which is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary [19.40]. To end the show, RA's Frederique van Waning chats with Shamiro van der Geld, Amsterdam's newly elected night mayor. The city is often held up as a best-in-class example of how to sustain a thriving scene. We'll find out how the night mayor looks after the interests of the city's nightlife industry, and hear about van der Geld's goal to make the city's scene more diverse and inclusive [35.00].
