  • A Club Called Rhonda has gone from a small, semi-legal gathering at a Mexican restaurant to an institution that packs thousands of revelers into historic LA venues like the Roosevelt Hotel and the newly reopened Union. Throughout this journey, its founders, Loren Granich and Gregory Alexander, remain dedicated to "house, disco and polysexual hard partying." Rhonda is one of the few LA club nights encouraging attendees to work a look when turning up for DJs like Ben UFO, Danny Krivit and Theo Parrish. Getting the nod from Rhonda's door queen after navigating a city block's worth of line is a rite of passage in LA's underground scene. But it's not all bleary-eyed nights and fabulous club kids for Granich and Alexander. In this week's Exchange, RA's LA-based staff writer Matt McDermott speaks with the guys about the party's humble beginnings in a Downtown loft and the guidance they draw from Rhonda, their faceless, genderless mascot.
