  • Seth Troxler starred in our latest Between The Beats film last week, and among the many subjects raised during the shoot, he talked about the idea of fame in dance music. Jamie Jones, one of Troxler's long-time friends and some-time collaborators, could probably write a book on the subject. OK, that's an exaggeration, but in the late 2000s, Jones' profile rose to meteoric levels. It all went crazy for him around the time of Don't You Remember The Future, his debut album. The record unintentionally wrote a blueprint for a type of house music that put bumping bass and feel-good samples centre stage. This was crystallised the following year, when Jones and his good friend Lee Foss started Hot Natured, a record label that became known for both a style of music and a carefree attitude. By the time RA readers voted Jones as the #1 DJ of 2011, the Hot Creations sound was influencing a generation of producers. Jones and Foss embraced their status, and turned their Hot Natured project into a full-blown stage show, scoring a top-40 UK single in the process. It's also important to recognise the impact Ibiza has had on Jones' career. At this point he's been playing on the island for over a decade, and when we met with him recently in London, he was fresh from another sell-out season for his Paradise party at DC10.
