  • Ministry of Sound are set to start their new DJ Academy next month, with Danny Rampling and Tuff Jam's Karl Brown kicking off the first of the one-day courses. The curriculum has been devised by Jim Jomoa, who is a full-time DJ lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. (He also produced as part of the Good Guys production duo, even finding his way onto a mix CD compiled by Detroit techno legend Juan Atkins.) Jomoa will host the course at the Ministry of Sound club in London, and participants will even get to have a go on the decks in the hallowed venue. At nearly £300 for the day, it's not the world's cheapest DJing course, but the tutors aren't just anybody. Starting on December 5th, the first DJ Academy will see UK house stalwart Danny Rampling offer his teaching services alongside Karl "Tuff Enuff" Brown, who was a member of UK Garage duo Tuff Jam. If those pair don't take your fancy, then you can always wait until someone more suitable comes along to teach at the monthly academy, like drum & bass DJ Ray Keith or even Hacienda resident Chad Jackson.
