- The German duo will play a live set to accompany a screening of a rare early 20th century film.
As part of this year's Noise of Art Festival, Booka Shade will prepare a live set to accompany the 1911 silent film Inferno.
The German duo has been commissioned by the festival to put together a score for the film based on Dante's Divine Comedy, whose claim to fame primarily comes from the fact that it's one of the first films to contain special effects. While fellow Teutons Tangerine Dream created their own soundtrack to the film for its re-release in 2002, Walter and Amo will be doing their own from scratch.
Noise of Art is no stranger to such activity: they've debuted and commissioned new material from artists such as Laurent Garnier and Chateau Flight, whose score to Les Vampires was released in late 2006 on Versatile, in the past. Similarly, Jeff Mills and Giorgio Moroder have each composed scores to Fritz Lang's Metropolis.
Pretentious, you say? Maybe. But with tickets going for £8.60, we'd be willing to see Booka Shade soundtrack just about anything.
