  • São Paulo's D-Edge club celebrates its fifth birthday with sets from Smash TV and Aeroplane this weekend. D-Edge has risen to prominence with nights focused on nu-disco, minimal, electro, progressive and electro-house – not to mention a wicked sound system, neon lights on the floor, and insane LED graphics flashing across the walls. Guaranteed to be rammed every weekend, the birthday parties this Friday and Saturday will be no exception. Friday sees fast-rising nu-disco duo Aeroplane at D-Edge, while Saturday night features Smash TV, aka Holger Zilske from Bpitch Control – producer of the first two Ellen Allien albums no less – who will unveil his new live set at the club. Club owner and Friday resident Renato Ratier believes D-Edge’s success is all about opening doors for new genres. “These five years are represented in how trustworthy D-Edge has become to local crowds”, says Ratier. “Since we first opened our doors, in April 22nd, 2003, we have been sticking with our artistic criteria”.
