DJ Marky headlines the final night at longtime São Paulo venue Lov.e, which is closing this weekend after ten years.
Lov.e has been a huge factor in São Paulo’s nightlife since the tail-end of the millennium, bringing together techno, house, electro, drum’n’bass and Rio funk fans. It’s philosophy of combining the underground with the mainstream went on to inspire clubs such as D-Edge, Vegas and Clash, clubs which went onto become serious competition to Lov.e.
Techno and house were the main genres championed at Lov.e – a heritage that was celebrated last week in a marathon session featuring more than 30 DJs. But the Lov.e spirit would be misrepresented without a proper drum’n’bass extravaganza. Tonight’s final show features drum’n’bass innovator DJ Marky with guests DJ Patife, Andy, Marnel and Koloral.
"It wouldn’t make any sense to close the club without this party," says Lov.e’s head honcho Flavia Ceccato. Even though drum’n’bass was already popular in São Paulo before Lov.e, it would have barely caught the attention of the metropolis if it weren’t for DJ Marky’s resident night Vibe.
