Michael Baumann’s experimental/jazz project Soulphiction releases a second albu Do You Overstand? this week.
Soulphiction is the more electic side of Michael Baumann, who also makes deep house solo as Jackmate and in the group Manmade Science. As Soulphiction, Baumann’s records have arrived on labels such as Perlon, Philpot, Freude Am Tanzen and now Sonar Kollektiv, and span a range of influences including jazz, world music and soul.
Do You Overstand? is Baumann’s second album for SK as Soulphiction, following up State of Euphoria in 2006. Expect a range of mood from ethic vibes (GhanaWadada) to bass grooves (‘Prison Song’) to hip-hop (‘I Just Wait’). You can preview a number of tracks from the record at Soulphiction’s MySpace.
