  • Hollywood club night Avaland goes minimal for its birthday bash with Pier Bucci headling the terrace this Saturday. Avaland is held every Saturday at the L.A. superclub Avalon. But don’t underestimate the names coming through their doors: while the night started out by bringing over big names in progressive and trance, these days it has begun booking European and homegrown talents often overlooked on the West Coast. Think Matthew Dear, Booka Shade, Michael Mayer or Gui Boratto. Headlining Avaland's third birthday is a live set from Pier Bucci, who brings his elegant techno and laptop jamming to the terrace supported by Denver's Larry Ursini. The two recently collaborated as Glacier on the Wagon Repair single 'Rocky Mountains' so expect a smooth and tidy changeover. Meanwhile in the main room, electro mainstay Felix Da Housecat and electrohouse convert Tom 'Superchumbo' Stephan will be ramping it up for the Avaland faithful of old. Watch out also next month as Avaland kicks off a new 'Fall-Winter' series of events which looks set to give the traditionally glitzy L.A. club scene a bit of a shakeup. Confirmed artists so far include John Digweed, Stephan Bodzin, Jesse Rose, Tiefschwarz, Loco Dice, Sander Kleinenberg, Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier and Claude VonStroke.
