The sixth annual Breakspoll awards closes at midnight GMT on the 8th of February with seventeen categories up for grabs. If you haven’t voted already, click here to have your say. That’s how democracy works, folks. The International Breakbeat Awards started life back in 2001 among a small group of breaks fans and producers, and has mushroomed into the most important award ceremony for the broken beat genre. Last year, nearly 50,000 breaks fans registered ballots, and this year organizers expect to break all records. As with previous years, Breakspoll will announce the winners at a breaks night at Fabric in London on the 22nd. This year two room will be dedicated to heavyweights and up and comers and one room dedicated to the unsung heroes of the genre: the residents. Spinning on the night will be Atomic Hooligan & Jay Cunning, Baobinga & ID vs. 30HZ, Hyper, Krafty Kuts, Paul Arnold & Merka and Tayo amongst a cast of twenty five. Those who can make it out of bed the following day can also head down to the Breakspoll Football Tournament, which will be held in central London on Friday afternoon, with an after party to follow at SeOne.
